When it began its work in August 2018, the Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture was intended to last 180 days. At time of writing, the commission – helmed by Judge Raymond Zondo – has been sitting for over a year. It is now almost certain that its work will extend to mid-2020 at the very least. Uncovering the intricacies of State Capture, it turns out, takes longer than anybody could’ve counted on.
